BASF: PA 6 Plants Inaugurated in Texas

BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has inaugurated new manufacturing plants for PA 6 and superabsorbent polymers (SAP) at its site in Freeport, Texas / USA. The polyamide production line replaces a facility in Enka, North Carolina / USA and has a capacity of 120,000 t/y, using caprolactam feedstock supplied by another BASF plant at the Freeport site. The site is now the manufacturing base for BASF’s entire polyamide intermediates and polymers business in North America. The new SAP plant has a capacity of 180,000 t/y and replaces two existing facilities in the USA. /Plastics Information Europe/
