BMS - New PMPO Plant at Antwerp

Bayer Material Science plans to build a 60,000 t/y plant for the production of polymer-filled polyether polyols (PMPO) at its Antwerp site in Belgium. The EUR 40m world-scale facility is scheduled for start-up in late 2008. It will use a new process developed with Bayer Technology Services, which is said to enable a reduction in the volatile organic compounds (VOC) content of the end products. The company also expects a 25% reduction in plant construction costs and in the energy consumption of the completed facility. /Plastics Information Europe/
