Ticona: Expanded PPS Unit

Fortron Industries (Florence, Kentucky / USA; www.fortron.com), a joint venture of Ticona (Kelsterbach / Germany; www.ticona.com) and Kureha (Tokyo / Japan; www.kureha.co.jp) has brought on stream its expanded linear polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) plant at Wilmington, North Carolina / USA. Capacity has been doubled over a three-year period to 15,000 t/y, creating what the jv claims is the world’s largest PPS plant. Worldwide demand for the high-performance polymer is growing rapidly, and other producers also have announced expansions. /Plastics Information Europe/
