How European Plastics Strategy Will Change The Plastics Industry?
How European Plastics Strategy Will Change The Plastics Industry?
The concept of the Circular Economy has been fulfilled – the European directives have been published after three years of public consultations and EU Member States have to transpose them into national laws within two years. In mid January 2018 the European Commission published “A European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy” comprising a frame of strategy for plastics, one of the five priority areas of the circular economy action plan. Further move was a new directive (Single-use plastics (SUP) directive) proposed as a part of the EC’s Strategy. Through restrictions and bans the SUP directive targets at changing consumption patterns and at reducing environment pollution.
The experts in panel discussion will address the question how the proposed legal changes will affect the plastics industry and how the industry could effectively reduce the negative consequences of escalating legislative as well as public pressure on plastics.
