Eastman sustainable “Carbon renewal technology” is capable of recycling some of the most complex plastic waste, including non-polyester plastics and mixed plastics that can’t recycled with conventional recycling technologies. Materials like flexible packaging and plastic films: Waste plastics like those and others can be recycled through carbon renewal technology instead of ending up in a landfill.
Eastman is modifying cellulosics production stream to accept plastic waste as a feedstock. “Carbon renewal technology” will take that plastic waste and convert it back to simple and versatile molecular components. By going back to the molecule, Eastman is converting these waste plastics into the basic building blocks of certain Eastman products for ophthalmics, cosmetic packaging, medical, textiles and nonwovens end-use markets.
